Faculty History
The School of Nursing currently consists of three units: the Department of Nursing, the Institute of Clinical Nursing, and the Institute of Community Health Care.
The Department of Nursing has been offering undergraduate, doctoral and master's in-service programs; the Institute of Clinical Nursing has been offering master's and doctoral programs; and the Institute of Community Health Care has been offering master's programs.
Since the 90th (2001) academic year, the School of Nursing has been developing dynamically. Under the development of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University as a world-class university, the development of a multi-dimensional academic system and the introduction of educational reform concepts have brought the School of Nursing forward to a bright new era.
The development of the School of Nursing consists of three major aspects: in the 90th (2001) academic year, Dean Yu Yu Mei initiated the fundamental education reform program of the undergraduate department, followed by the establishment of the doctoral program of nursing in the 92nd (2002) academic year, the in-service master's program in the 95th (1995) academic year, and the doctoral program of clinical nursing in the 107th (2018) academic year. All faculty members have dedicated themselves to the dream of realizing Yang Ming as the leading institution, embracing, endeavoring, and attempting to realize their dreams.
The history of the School of Nursing by academic structure is as follows:
1986 Establishment of the Department of Nursing
1990 The Department of Nursing Night School was established and restructured into the "Bachelor Program of Continuing Education in Nursing" in 1997.
1992 Institute of Clinical Nursing was established.
1993 Institute of Community Health Care was established.
1996 School of Nursing was established.
2002 Doctoral program in nursing established
2002 Bachelor of Nursing Education program was discontinued.
2005 The Department of Nursing and the Doctoral Program were consolidated into the Department and Institute of Nursing
2006 The "Master's in-service program" established
2007 Integration of clinical nursing and social nursing into the Institute of Clinical and Community Nursing
2010 Department and Institute of Nursing renamed as Department of Nursing
2015 The Institute of Clinical and Community Nursing was renamed as the Institute of Clinical Nursing, and the Institute of Community Health Care was established.
2018 Establishment of the Doctoral Program in Clinical Nursing Practice (DNP)
